A Little About Vintage Hook Pieces
Everything from Vintage Hook is made one at a time, by me, from pieces that already had a life before they found their way to my sewing room. That’s kind of the whole point.
I love taking something that’s been tucked away, passed over, or forgotten and finding a way to make it useful and loved again.
About the “imperfections”
Since these are vintage quilts and secondhand clothing, you may find a little fading, a worn spot, an old repair, a tiny stain or some other evidence of a life well lived. And because these are handmade (vs factory made) you might also find a stitch that isn't perfectly straight or a thread I somehow missed before it left my house.
I’ll always do my best to photograph and mention anything noteworthy, but please know that a little character comes with the territory around here.
No two Vintage Hook pieces will ever be exactly alike. That's what I love about them.
About the fit
Many of the shirts I use started their lives in the men's section, so the fit is meant to be relaxed and a little oversized. Wear it buttoned, open over a tee, sleeves rolled, tucked, untucked… there really isn't a wrong way.
Since the original sizes and fits vary from brand to brand, please don't rely on the tag alone. I’ll include measurements with each listing so you can compare them to something you already own and love.
Before you buy
Because every piece is one-of-a-kind, all sales are final. Please take a good look through the photos, description and measurements before purchasing.
And if you're wondering about something, ask me! I'd much rather answer a question beforehand than have you end up with something that isn't right for you.
Taking care of her
These pieces have already made it through one life, and we'd like to make the next one a long one.
For the ruffle shirts, wash gently in cold water and hang to dry. Vintage quilt pieces may have their own care recommendations, which will be included with the listing.
One last thing
Vintage Hook started with my love for old quilts. The kind someone spent hours piecing and stitching together, only for them to eventually end up folded in a closet or forgotten on a thrift-store shelf.
Turns out, I just really like giving good things another go.
Whether it's an old quilt turned into a jacket or a secondhand button-down given a fun ruffled collar, I hope what you find here feels special. Not because it's perfect, but because there isn't another one quite like it.
